“Your profile could not be opend correctly. Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its contents.”
It wasn’t a very helpful warning message. Although it didn’t cause any browsing issues, it did cause Chrome unable to sync with my personal settings. If you are encountering the same problem,
Here is How to Fix the Profile Error (If Sign In Sync is Enabled)
1. Close chrome
2. Navigate to %APPDATA%\Local\Google\Chrome
3. Remove everything under User Data
Now launch Chrome again, you will start with a blank default profile. All your previous settings, bookmarks will be gone, but since you have everything synced with the cloud. You should now be able to sign-in and sync all the settings back.
If you don’t have Chrome sign-in to sync settings turned on, then unfortunately there isn’t much you can do other than make a backup of your existing User Data and hoping it can be restored after the default profile is generated by Chrome.
